Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico
In previous years the residents of Albuquerque would fill the parking lots of Kirtland
Air Force Base on Independance Day in anticipation of a grand-scale music and
firework show. 2002, the year following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks,
was the last year for the show. Fear of terrorist attacks, along with tightened military
security have brought the celebration to an end.
